Blom has developed a new software tool that enables companies developing navigation software and hardware to use BLOM’s exclusive oblique Pictometry® aerial images in their applications and devices, under the 3D Photonav® brand.
Pictometry® images provide a new navigation experience for the users. The Navigator enables the user to identify and recognise the surrounding environment rapidly, providing a more realistic and safer driving experience.
Blom is designing a best–of-breed navigator hardware and software to manage a full country set of oblique Pictometry® images. Blom can provide its own Fidelio platform to download images city by city for those customers who want to include the 3D Photonav® solution in their hardware, but does not have matching required features in their devices.
Blom's navigation solution 3D Photonav® was tested by the norwegian newspaper Finansavisen in November 2007. They found the product revolutionary and were extremely excited and positive about Blom's new 3D Photonav®. The Blom navigator was given a test score of 9.4 out of 10.
Quotes from the article:
"The difference between the graphical systems is the feeling of receiving direct broadcast tv images".
"The excitement is related to who will launch the solution (in Norway). We will not be surprised if Nokia will have this incorporated early next year. When it comes to Garmin, TomTom, Sony, Pioneer, Panasonic and all the other brands we can only guess. They all need to have it".
